Fore! Generous Golfers Raise Funds For Bird Rescue

With the help from more than 200 very generous sponsors and partners, Marathon helped raise much needed funds for non-profits – including International Bird Rescue.

Thanks to more than 200 very generous golfers that showed up at Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s recent MPCgives 2024 Invitational golf event, International Bird Rescue scored big.

A total of $225,000 was contributed to Bird Rescue, and it wasn’t the only group to receive support. Four other non-profit organizations divided $2.8 million in support. They included American Red Cross, Junior Achievement, United Service Organizations (USO), and the Giving Grove.

Marathon’s event was held in San Antonio, Texas, in October 2024. The organization is long-time community partner of Bird Rescue and has helped the organization with support of both locations – the San Francisco Bay-Delta and Los Angeles Wildlife Centers

“At MPC, our community investment strategy is centered around strengthening communities and helping make people’s lives better,” said Tim Aydt, Executive Vice President Refining of the Marathon Petroleum Corporation.

“100% of these generous sponsorship proceeds will be directed to organizations that advance our key areas of focus: workforce development, sustainability, and thriving communities,” Aydt added.

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) operates the Los Angeles Refinery (LAR) in California, which is the largest refinery on the West Coast. In Martinez, CA it operates Martinez Refinery Renewable Fuels, a facility producing diesel from feedstock.
