International Bird Rescue is honored to be featured in the new 2025 Dawn commercial, celebrating a partnership that has supported wildlife rescue for more than 45 years. While Dawn’s iconic duckling makes an appearance, this year’s ad goes deeper into the real work of oiled wildlife care — featuring species our teams see every year, including an oiled Western Grebe and Surf Scoter.
The commercial offers a glimpse into the lifesaving process our staff and volunteers carry out at our wildlife centers, where Dawn’s trusted formula remains an essential tool for safely removing oil from delicate feathers. You’ll also spot two members of our team — Julie Skoglund and Ariana Gastelum — representing the people behind this longstanding partnership.
When proven science meets compassionate care, birds get the second chances they deserve — a promise Dawn and Bird Rescue continue to deliver on.

If you find a bird or other wildlife contaminated with oil, grease, or any unknown substance, DO NOT attempt to wash the animal yourself. Improper cleaning can cause severe harm or even death, and it can put you at risk as well. Washing oiled wildlife requires specialized training to ensure the animal’s safety and recovery.
