Dr. Christine Bee is a scientist with more than 10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry. She currently works as a group leader at Merck in the discovery of novel medicines against cancer and cardiometabolic diseases. On weekends, Christine can typically be found kayaking or hiking with her husband in Marin County north of San Francisco.
Christine loves nature tourism. Some of her favorite trips have taken her to observe elephants and wild dogs in Africa, watch birds and jaguars in Brazil, scuba dive with sharks and manta rays, and swim alongside whales. She has also seen the effects of wildfires, overfishing, coral bleaching and pollution, including the 2002 oil spill of the Prestige. This is why she joined IBR.
Christine holds a doctoral degree in Biochemistry from Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany and has been living in California since 2010.
