A recent snow storm blew an American White Pelican off course and into unfamiliar territory: the winter wonderland of South Lake Tahoe, California.
A variety of new bird patients, including lots of Western Grebes, have come into care since January 13, 2023 from the intense California winter storms.
A few months ago, this pelican was found with an unfortunately long list of injuries. He was brought to Bird Rescue from the El Dorado Nature Center on April 27 after experiencing an unknown trauma.
A Nazca Booby that was found in poor condition in Oregon, is now getting expert care at International Bird Rescue. The wayward booby was stabilized at the Oregon Coast Aquarium before being transferred to our Los Angeles Wildlife Center.
On June 25th, our Los Angeles Wildlife Center received an adult Brown Pelican with a horrendous injury to her face – the bone that forms the top third of the upper bill had been virtually sheared off and was hanging by a thread. Here’s her story of recovery.
