International Bird Rescue has produced a Spanish-language video version of The Wonderful World of Blue, titled Un Mundo Maravilloso Azul, giving Spanish-speaking children the opportunity to connect with nature and understand the importance of conservation in their own language.
This educational e-book was released in October 2022 by Dawn Dish Soap in collaboration with International Bird Rescue and The Marine Mammal Center. Narrated by Serge Conus, the Spanish script was expertly translated by Jennifer Martines, Wildlife Rehabilitation Technician and native speaker, and Angie Holdeman, a Bird Rescue volunteer and a teacher for English as a Second Language at Paramount Adult School. She was also assisted by a few of her students: Rosario Solis, Carolina Torres, and Beatriz Villapudua.
“I teach the advanced level, and my students are pretty adept at switching back and forth between languages,” Angie said. “These students in particular were some of my best, and we discussed both the English and Spanish versions to come up with language you would typically encounter in a kids story. They were happy to do it, and it was great practice for all of us.”
This story is designed to inspire and engage a younger generation of wildlife heroes who will prioritize caring for the environment and wildlife in the years to come. The video is perfect for Spanish-speaking families and educators who want to foster a love for wildlife while teaching the importance of conservation and environmental stewardship.
Un Mundo Maravilloso Azul can be enjoyed on YouTube, and The Wonderful World of Blue is available on YouTube and as a downloadable PDF.
