There’s high anxiety along the English Channel this week after a cargo ship carrying 313 tons of fuel oil sank in high seas. The 328-foot vessel was carrying lumber from Scandinavia to Egypt.
Environmentalists fear that if the oil leaks from the ship’s tanks, which is nearly 100,000 gallons in US measurements, it could have major consequences for marine life in the area.
The Ice Prince went down 26 miles southeast of Portland Bill in Dorset.
IBRRC and our international partner, International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) are monitoring this event.
