Question: What made you want to be a part of the Yes We Peli-CAN! virtual 5K?

Answer: I have been a part of this race since our very first one in 2018 when we raced over the Vincent Thomas Bridge. I had never done a race like that before, but it was so exciting to complete such a difficult challenge and do it alongside so many Bird Rescue friends and supporters.

Q: How did you come up with your team name?

A: We are the SLC Grebes because Western Grebes are my favorite bird to work with at the rescue, and we also have tons of them where I live now in Utah, so I thought they were the perfect species to tie together team members in both places.

SLC Grebes are offering free stickers to anyone that makes a donation towards their fundraiser!

Q: Where do you like to see birds in your community?

A: My favorite place to go birding is on Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake. This area is an important stopover on the Pacific Flyway, and you can see thousands of waterbirds and shorebirds there.

Q: How are you planning to complete your 5K?

A: The Salt Lake City members of our team will be completing the race at Liberty Park and finishing the event off by visiting the Tracy Aviary to see all the beautiful birds there and grab a snack at the Bird Feeder Cafe. If there is anyone in the Salt Lake area who thinks that sounds fun, please join our team! We’d love to have you there 🙂
